Welcome!
Got a new SuperBox and not sure where to start? Don't worry — setup is way simpler than you might think, and you'll be up and running in about 10 minutes.
This guide is made specifically for people who just got their first SuperBox and want a straightforward, no-jargon walkthrough. We'll cover everything from plugging it in to the first things you should try.
This guide works for all S7 models (Pro, Max, and Ultra). Not sure which one you have? Check out our model comparison page to see the differences.
What you'll learn:
- How to hook everything up
- Initial setup in 5 simple steps
- How to pair the remote
- Basic controls you need to know
- Quick tips for the best experience
Before You Start
Make sure you have these ready:
- Your SuperBox device
- The power adapter that came in the box
- An HDMI cable (included)
- The remote control + 2 AAA batteries
- Your TV with an available HDMI port
- Internet access (WiFi or Ethernet cable)
Got everything? Let's go.
Step 1: Plug It In
This part is easy. Three cables, that's it.
- HDMI cable: Plug one end into the back of the SuperBox, the other into your TV. Remember which HDMI port you used (like "HDMI 1" or "HDMI 2").
- Internet (optional but recommended): If you have an Ethernet cable, plug one end into the box and the other into your router. Wired is always faster and more reliable.
- Power: Plug the power adapter into the box, then into the wall. The box will turn on by itself.
Now grab your TV remote and switch the input to whatever HDMI port you used. You should see the SuperBox loading screen.
Step 2: First-Time Setup
Once it finishes booting, you'll walk through a few basic settings. Just follow the prompts on screen:
- Pick your language — choose whatever you're most comfortable with
- Set your time zone — make sure this is right, it affects the playback buffer feature
-
Connect to the internet:
- If you plugged in Ethernet, it connects automatically — you're done with this step
- If using WiFi, select your network from the list and type in your password
WiFi tip: Always pick the 5GHz network if you see two options (it'll have "5G" in the name). It's faster and less glitchy than the 2.4GHz one.
Step 3: Pair the Remote
The voice remote should pair itself automatically the first time. If it's not working after a minute, here's how to fix it:
- Put fresh AAA batteries in the remote
- Hold the remote close to the box (like 6-12 inches away)
- Press and hold the OK button and Return button at the same time
- Keep holding until the little light on the remote starts flashing
- Wait 5-10 seconds — you should see a confirmation on screen
That's it. The remote uses Bluetooth, so you don't need to point it directly at the box. It works from anywhere in the room.
Step 4: The Basics You Need to Know
Here are the remote buttons you'll use 90% of the time:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| OK | Select things, like clicking |
| Directional arrows (up/down/left/right) | Move around menus |
| Home | Go back to the main screen |
| Return / Back | Go back one screen |
| Menu | Open extra options |
| Voice button (mic icon) | Hold and speak for voice commands |
| Play/Pause | Pause or resume playback |
Try This First
Press the Home button to go to the main screen. Use the arrow keys to move around, press OK to select things. Open a few apps and get comfortable navigating around.
Step 5: Try the Voice Remote
The voice control is one of the coolest features. It's way faster than typing with the on-screen keyboard.
How to use it:
- Press and hold the microphone button on the remote
- While holding it, say what you want
- Let go when you're done speaking
Things you can say:
- "Go home"
- "Open settings"
- "Pause"
- "Fast forward five minutes"
- "Rewind thirty minutes"
- "Turn on subtitles"
It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it you'll use it all the time.
The Time Shift Feature Explained
One of SuperBox's best features is something called Time Shift. You don't have to set anything up — it just works automatically in the background.
What it does: It keeps a buffer of recent content so you can rewind and watch stuff you missed, even if you didn't record it.
How to use it:
- Just press the Rewind button while watching something
- Keep rewinding as far back as you want
- Press Play to start watching from that point
- Press the Live button to jump back to the current moment
How far back can you go?
- S7 models: up to 7 days
- S6 models: about 8 hours
This is the feature most people say they can't live without once they get used to it. Missed the beginning of something? Just rewind. Had to take a phone call? Pause and come back later. No scheduling, no setting recordings — it's always there.
Quick Tips for a Better Experience
Use Wired Internet If You Can
WiFi is convenient, but plugging in an Ethernet cable makes everything faster and more stable. If your router is near your TV, definitely use the cable.
Keep Apps Updated
Every couple of weeks, open the Play Store app and go to "My apps" to install updates. Updated apps run better and crash less.
Restart Every Now and Then
If things ever feel slow or glitchy, just unplug the power for 10 seconds and plug it back in. This fixes 90% of small issues.
Don't Worry About Storage (Mostly)
Most people never come close to filling up the storage. If you do end up needing more space, you can plug in a USB drive. If you're still shopping and wondering which size to get, the S7 Max is the most popular choice — 64GB is plenty for almost everyone.
Common Beginner Questions
Do I need a Smart TV?
Nope! SuperBox works with any TV that has an HDMI port. Old or new, smart or not — it doesn't matter. The box adds all the smart features itself.
Can I use a regular keyboard?
Yes! Bluetooth keyboards pair with SuperBox and make typing way easier. Wireless mice work too.
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship from our US warehouse within one business day via UPS. Most people get their box in 3-5 days depending on where you live.
You're All Set!
That's everything you need to get started. The best way to learn is just to play around with it — navigate the menus, try the voice remote, test out the Time Shift feature. You'll get the hang of it in no time.
